Beautiful handmade lampwork beads swinging in sterling silver hammered hoops
Textured sterling silver hoops circling handmade lampwork glass beads in delicate shades of pale lilac pink. Layered over a tinted clear golden base, the glass has little pure silver droplets captured under the clear surface. Handmade hammered silver hoops frame the glass and catch the light as they swing from sterling silver earwires.
Drop length from earwire 23 mm (just under 1 inch) Hoops 20 mm wide (3/4 inch) Glass drops 12 mm wide (1/2 inch)
Contemporary lampwork glass jewellery by glass artist and designer Carolyn Grant.
Handmade in my home studio in Cheshire, England, I create sterling silver earrings, necklaces and bracelets using my own handcrafted lampwork glass beads. Formed in a hot flame using a propane and oxygen powered torch, each lampwork bead is individually handmade and unique. My lampwork glass forms the focal part of my jewellery designs, each one a tiny little work of art. There is something hypnotic about working with hot glass, manipulating it in the flame and using a combination of heat and gravity to control the flow and create something beautiful. I learn something new every time I fire up my torch, and hope that my fascination with glass translates into my jewellery.
